Provenance

How it's made

Every product on iogen carries one of three labels, so you always know who, or what, built it.

Hand-built

Made by hand, by Neal. Every layer, parameter and mapping was placed and tuned manually. The whole back catalogue of Resolume packs is hand-built.

AI-assisted

Neal designed it and made the decisions, and AI coding tools helped build it. He directs, tests, rejects and refines until it does what he wants on stage.

AI-built

Mostly written by AI coding tools from Neal's prompts, then tested by him before release. These are usually the fun experiments and free tools in the Lab.

No diffusion-model art. Ever.

iogen never sells images or video generated by diffusion models such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion or similar tools. Not as products, not in packs, and not as artwork on this site. Every product also carries one of the provenance labels above.

This is about AI image and video models only. Classic generative techniques that happen to share the word, such as reaction-diffusion, are part of the craft and welcome here.

The only exceptions are tools such as depth-map creators, tracking, other passes, etc. This is open for change in the future, but not currently.

Neal, in his own words: 4 October 2026

The labels above are about the tools: code, compositions and plugins that you run live. The visuals they produce are generated in real time on your machine, by systems you can open, change and play.

Orange words are Neal's

The same goes for the writing on this site. Text in orange is Neal's own words, quoted as he wrote them. Everything in white, including this page, was written with AI, so no AI writing is ever passed off as his voice.

Why say this at all

Neal has made live visuals since 2016 (the story so far). A lot of live-visuals artists are rightly tired of prompt-to-video content that all looks alike. iogen would rather be clear about what it makes and how, and let the work speak for itself.
